Brace yourselves, readers. You're entering a blog with belligerent rants/reviews, chaotic writings, incompetent; pointless fangirling... and, oh yeah, GIFS. Fuckloads of them... did I also mention some swearing? I'm an eighteen-year-old girl majoring in Theatre Arts. I may not be an excellent writer, but gosh, I love doing it.

Pivot Point (Pivot Point #1) by Kasie West

Pivot Point - Kasie West

Well, well, well. It has taken me 5 months to decide I'm going to write a review for this amazing piece of literature. Just thinking about this book gives me a very pleasant; bubbly feeling. Pivot Point, you've taken me on such and amazing, fresh, and original journey that I enjoyed so much and will never forget. I honestly cannot wait to read the sequel, Split Second. Well done, Kasie West. Thank you for bringing something new to the Young Adult world. I've grown very, very tired of reading YA novels like the Twilight Saga, the Lux series, the Mortal Instruments, and anything along those lines.

When Addie's parents announces they're getting a divorce she is left to choose who to stay with: her mother in the paranormal world (a.k.a. the Compound where there are people with abilities; a place where Addie's known her whole life and fit in), or move away with her father to the normal world -- our world (a.k.a the 'Norms'). You see, Addie is a Searcher -- she has the ability to search into the future and see the outcome of both choices. Only problem, knowing it won't make her choice any easier. She can either stay with her mother and best friend, Laila, and the guy she's been crushing on for a while (his name happens to be Duke). Or she can move away with her father to the normal world and meet a swoon-worthy boy named Trevor and experience something new, something fresh. (I'm all for Trevor, by the way.)

I simply loved the abilities in Pivot Point: Telekinetics, people who can move objects around with their mind; Persuaders, people who can persuade a person to do/say anything against their will (a very useful, yet dangerous ability); Erasers, people who can erase memories from a person's mind (Laila, Addie's best friend, has this ability); Discerners, a person with the ability to detect when a person is lying (ladies, don't you wish you had this ability so you can sniff out your boyfriend/husband when he comes home late and he tells a lie that he was 'hanging with the bros'?)

The characters in Pivot Point were very believable — Duke, Addie’s boyfriend in the paranormal world: the popular handsome jock, of course. He was very outgoing and funny. I love his conversations with Addie. Trevor: everyone loves Trevor…. everyone needs to love Trevor. Very amiable, shy, mysterious, and just… asdfghjkl; What started off as friendship between him and Addie turned into something that made me weep because I want a guy like him ok. And then there’s Laila: *taps lips* I didn’t like her. To be honest I found her to be an awful best friend (way to push Addie off the stage just to talk to Duke. Smooth). She’s your typical friend-forces-best-friend-to-pursue-a-boy and omg-just-screw-the-boy-already person. Enough about her. Moving on.

I found the romance in this story to be very clever. It’s not really a love-triangle — seeing that Addie’s in two different worlds and lives. So it was okay. Also, I couldn’t stop switching who I wanted between Trevor and Duke. Here’s how it went:

*first 30 pages*

Me: Ooohh, I like you, Duke.

*Next 30 pages*

Me: Hmm… this Trevor guy is making me smile. Why?!

*Next 10 pages*

Me: Duke…. ME GUSTA

*Next 20 pages*

Me: TREVOR CAN I KEEP YOU PLEASE OMG

*Next 10*

Me: Ok, I’m team Trevor all the way.

*Next 5*

Me: WAIT, I WANT DUKE, NO TREVOR, NO DUKE… I- FUUUUUUUU-!

*Next 20*

Me: My love is sealed… Trevor it is.

Yeah. You guys get the picture. Wait a second, what are y’all doing still reading this review? WHY HAVEN’T YOU CHECKED OUT PIVOT POINT YET? SHOO. READ IT. I promise you’ll like it.
